Revolution Ordering - DoorDash Self-Service Integration Onboarding (DDSSIO) Guide
Background
Starting in Q3 2024, Revolution Ordering offers a way for restaurants to self-onboard their locations to the Door Dash Marketplace with little to no help from support using a process available in Command Center One (CC1). Self onboarding uses a wizard-like process to step you through the various steps required to migrate the location to the Door Dash Marketplace. “Connect Platinum” is the marketing name used by Revolution Ordering to describe the feature of hosting restaurants on the various third-party marketplaces. It is sometimes referred to internally as “Connect”.
Marketplace Configuration
To configure the marketplace information for your location:
1. Select your restaurant.
2. Select the Configuration page found in the left-side navigation.
3. Click on the Delivery tab along the top.
4. Select the Marketplace tab underneath.
Creating a Division-Level Association
A prerequisite for being able to proceed with DDSSIO is to create an umbrella entity that all the restaurants as part of a division fall under. In most cases, this will already have been done for
you. If not, you need to request Revolution Ordering support to do this. This will allow us to set up some basic backend infrastructure to allow the rest of the DDSSIO process to proceed smoothly. You will know if you have a division-level association or not if you begin the onboarding process and it presents an option to create the association:
⚠️ If you see the above screen STOP! This is an indication that none of your restaurants have any marketplace configurations. Please contact Revolution Ordering support before continuing. |
Step 1: Begin Setup
The first step is to simply start the onboarding process by clicking the Setup button on the section that offers self-onboarding for DoorDash. The system will walk you through each step of the process.
Note: In order to use DoorDash self-service onboarding you will need to be able to log into a DoorDash account which has administrative privileges. |
Step 2: Provision POS Marketplace Settings
The second step is to set certain advanced settings that your POS may need to be configured for. The default values used come from the last restaurant that was integrated into the marketplace. If this is the first one, the values represent the most common default values. These settings can be updated at a later time.
Step 3: Configure Location Information
The next step is to set some values about the location of the restaurant being integrated. It is also the time and place to set the operating hours of the restaurant. This information is pre-populated with current information we have about the location.
Step 4: Sync with Connect
After location information has been saved, the next step is to synchronize the menu data at the location with Connect, Revolution’s marketplace integration platform. This data will later be synchronized with DoorDash. In some cases, the menu data may already be synchronized between Order One and Connect. In those cases, the synchronization step can be skipped but it is highly recommended not to skip this step.
⚠️ Synchronization can take a very long time to complete depending on the complexity of your menu data. |
Note: If you encounter any issues with the synchronization process, reach out to Revolution |
Ordering support to help resolve any problems. |
Step 5: Stage Menu Data
After the menu data is synchronized, the next step is to stage this data. Staging allows DoorDash to obtain the data quickly, which will happen in later steps. If the system detects that menu data is already staged, it will allow you to skip this step. Data only remains staged for one hour, so if you stop the onboarding process and later continue, you may need to stage the menu data again.
Step 6: Login to DoorDash
Once all the preparation work such as synchronization and staging have been completed, it is time for the real onboarding process to begin. At this point you will need to log into DoorDash through CC1 so that it can obtain location information from your DoorDash merchant account.
⚠️ The account you log in with must have a business administration role. ⚠️ If you do not have a DoorDash merchant account, a link is provided where you can create one. |
After logging in, you may have to agree (“consent”) with sharing business information with Revolution Ordering. The only information we need is a list of stores that you manage so we can onboard them through this process. Our privacy
Step 7: Pick a DoorDash Store to Onboard
After you have successfully logged in, CC1 will be able to obtain a list of restaurant locations from DoorDash so that you can pick the one to onboard. Ensure the one that you pick is the one that you want to onboard with the selected restaurant (undoing this mistake is difficult to correct).
Only the first 24 locations will be displayed. If your business has more locations, then click the “Load More” button to obtain the next 24 locations. Continue to use the “Load More” button until the location you want to integrate with is displayed. CC1 will display all the stores whether they are eligible or not, so If you are unable to find the store you want to integrate with, you will need to reach out to DoorDash support to determine why.
Empty List: In some cases, the list of stores is empty. You should go to the DoorDash merchant portal in order to create the stores first, then you can come back to continue the onboarding process.
Not Eligible: Once a store is selected, CC1 will determine its eligibility to onboard with DoorDash. In some cases, the store you pick is not eligible, in which case the process will not allow you to continue. Picking an eligible store will allow you to continue.
Step 8: Review the Details
After picking a store, the next step is to review the details of the DoorDash store and Revolution restaurant. This is the final step before the real onboarding process with DoorDash begins.
⚠️Double-check that the location picked in Step 7 is the one that you want to onboard with the selected restaurant in CC1 (undoing this mistake is difficult to correct). |
Step 9: Initiate Onboarding
Continuing on to this step will initiate the onboarding integration of the restaurant between Revolution Ordering and DoorDash. RO and DoorDash will begin exchanging data and information between each other. This process can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on the size of the menu that DoorDash needs to ingest. The UI will be updated at each step of the process. Once complete, the menu can be reviewed and the integration can be activated.
Step 10: Review Menu and Activate Integration
The final steps are to review the menu and activate the integration. Reviewing the menu is optional but highly recommended.
If successful, this step will:
● Activate the POS menu(s) associated with this store onboarding
● Deactivate all previous menu(s) associated with this store (if applicable - this includes both integrated and non-integrated menus previously associated with this store)
● Change order protocol to POS (if applicable)
After Integration Activation
Activating the integration does NOT change the active status of a store. If you are new to DoorDash, the store must be (re)activated via DoorDash Merchant Portal or by contacting DoorDash support.
Changes to the menu can be updated in DoorDash through the regular synchronization process. Contact Revolution Ordering support for any issues that cannot be resolved through the synchronization process.
Summary
Revolution Ordering has implemented DoorDash self-service integration onboarding (DDSSIO) allowing restaurants on the Revolution Ordering platform to easily integrate with stores in the DoorDash marketplace. The onboarding process needs to be initiated by clients using the new tools available in Command Center One (CC1) that will walk you through each step in the process. The CC1 user needs to have a DoorDash merchant account that has business admin privileges because part of the process requires logging into DoorDash using your merchant account so that the restaurant and store in DoorDash can be matched and onboarded. Once the process is complete, menu synchronization happens normally and the store can be (re)activated in the marketplace through the DoorDash merchant portal.
Appendix A: FAQs
Q: Does DDSSIO support multiple-site/single-batch processing when there are many locations to onboard?
A: At this time, Revolution Ordering does not support multiple-site/single-batch processing but this may change in the future. Check with your account manager to find out the status of this option.
